Being a Lawyer

To work in a career in justice, specifically becoming a lawyer entails a number of qualifications and requirements.  These can be accomplished often through an expensive and long process.  Basically, you’ll have to have the knowledge about the law by attending law school.  After you get the education in a specific area of law you want to specialize in, you still have to take and pass a bar exam.  Depending on the state you want to practice law in, there will also be other qualifications.  The key to success with becoming a lawyer is to have a strong desire and dedication to becoming a lawyer.

You’re going to need more skills and knowledge if you want to be a lawyer.  Going to court is only a part of the job.  Essentially, what a lawyer deals with day in and day out deals with skills for reading, writing and being a good advocate for clients.  If you think you have what it takes then you can set out and prepare for a career in justice as a lawyer.  If you haven’t started with college yet, taking political science as your major is a good place to start.  You can also take up philosophy to help you with logical thinking in law.

After college, you then have to look at getting a Juris Doctor degree.  This will be your step in being allowed to take the bar exam.  You’ll have to put your two cents in for three years or four years learning everything there is to know about the profession in law school.  After finishing law school, you can then prepare yourself for the bar exam.  This will also be a long preparation.  Additional qualifications for various states will be filling out a background application and taking and passing the exam for multistate professional responsibility.
